OMTA is pleased to announce the winner of the $15,000 Petri Scholarship this year is 27-year-old violinist Christopher Scherer. Christopher is a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University.

Alternate winner is 22-year-old flutist Kyle Ruggles from Burns, OR. Kyle is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music.

Six finalists selected from all the entrants were invited to perform before a panel of judges at Lincoln Hall in Portland on Saturday, June 13, 2015. Each contestant was prepared to perform from memory a program of music 30 to 45 minutes in length.

The Petri Scholarship Competition is held every other year and provides support for music study toward a performing career.
