Oregon Sweeps Piano Categories at Competition

Oregon student performers placed in the top three of seven of the MTNA Northwest Division Performance Competition categories, held in Spokane Jan 14-16.  A special shout-out to our piano competitors, who placed first in all three age groups — Junior, Senior and Young Artist (college).

Junior Piano Performance
Winner:  Michael Gu, student of Rachelle McCabe

Junior String Performance
Alternate:  Ian Song, violin, student of Carol Sindell

Junior Woodwind Performance
Alternate:  Julie Chen, flute, student of Sandy Norman

Senior Piano Performance
Winner:  Nathan Kim, student of Renato Fabbro

Senior String Performance
Honorable mention:  Paul Lee, cello, student of Hyun-Jin Kim

Senior Woodwind Performance
Alternate:  Marah Christenson, flute, student of Sandy Norman

Young Artist Piano Performance
Winner:  Ho Ni Connie Mack, student of Claire Wachter

 

The three winners will take part in the MTNA National Performance Competitions, to be held at the MTNA National Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, in March 2017.
